Cake For Breakfast

You can't eat cake for breakfast I thought. That is just not right. But it was what I wanted. Man did I want it.<br /><br />I ate a banana in an attempt to distract myself from this craving. Didn't work. Maybe a hard boiled egg. I am just need some protein. That will take care of things. Nope. I simply need more to eat, but it needs to be good for me so how about a bowl of oatmeal. Well the oatmeal was good, but I still wanted cake.<br /><br />Screw it! No one is here to see me eat it anyway. Mmmmm cake. A big piece of chocolate cake. German chocolate cake to be exact, with that yummy coconut pecan frosting on top. This was so good. Why haven't I ever eaten this for breakfast before?<br /><br />Because I shouldn't that is why. What is this "shouldn't" anyway? I mean did anyone ever actually say "You shouldn't eat cake for breakfast." to me before. No. After all, we eat panCAKEs for breakfast don't we? It is more of an implied "should." Because no one had ever offered me cake for breakfast, I ended up believing that it is not a breakfast food.<br /><br />But seriously, it is no worse for me than the super sized cup of coffee and a doughnut that many folks start their day with. And don't even get me started about minimally nutritional nuggets with names like Lucky Charms, Captain Crunch or Fruit Loops that many of us were served as breakfast staples growing up.<br /><br />So why shouldn't I eat cake for breakfast? No reason at all. As it turned out, the only way I was going to be satisfied was to have cake for breakfast. And what is wrong with being satisfied? Seems like a pretty good way to start the day to me. Such a good way that I had cake for breakfast again today.<br /></div>
